Headteacher/ Head of Kodesh - Talmud Torah, Gibraltar

Talmud Torah, Gibraltar stands at the heart of a vibrant, thriving and growing Jewish community basking in the Mediterranean sun. Gibraltar boasts a community kollel, eruv, mikveh, bakery, restaurants, four synagogues, two high schools and a primary school.

Children from Reception-Year 8 benefit from a government-run primary school, "Hebrew Primary School" (or “HPS”), in the morning, and a private community-run school in the afternoons, "Talmud Torah".

Talmud Torah, established in 1895, is looking for a Headteacher/ Head of Kodesh to lead and train our team of educators, starting September 2017.

You will be a professional educator with a strong commitment to quality inclusive Jewish education and have demonstrated experience in raising levels of Jewish knowledge, skills and values. You will have the ability to lead a passionate and dedicated team of Jewish Studies teachers, providing support, professional development, advice and inspiration. You will also have a track record in successfully leading teams through difficult transitional phases.

Critical to this role is the ability to develop and implement a Jewish Studies Curriculum, both formal and experiential, which is inspiring to students and academically rigorous. The role will include supervising, training and managing Kodesh staff and empowering local talent to take leading roles in the school. Gibraltar is fortunate to enjoy the professionalism and familiarity of the British teaching standards and national curriculum, without the pressures of Osted and Pikuach inspections.

You will possess excellent organisational skills with superior ICT and communication skills as well as the ability to develop strong stakeholder relationships with colleagues, parents, children, governors, Hebrew Primary School, and the wider Jewish community. A can-do attitude is essential, as well as the ability to think creatively and maximise opportunities with finite resources.

Competitive remuneration package equivalent to L15-L25, depending on experience and compatibility.
