DfE Bursary

DfE Bursary now available for the May 2023 programme

The DfE will offer a bursary for 20 applicants joining the May 2023 programme.  The bursary will cover 75% of the cost of the bursary and the applicants school will be invoiced directly the remaining fee of £433.50 + VAT.  They will process applications on a first come, first served basis.

DfE bursaries are available for applicants based in schools who have either:

  • moved to a SAT within the last eighteen months
  • or are employed by a MAT which converted within the last eighteen months
  • have budgets in deficit, projected to be in deficit or a declining margin

They are particularly interested in applications that will support SBPs in schools where CPD is difficult to fund.  Please note that they will require evidence that your employer supports your application.

If you have already been offered a place on another Level 5 Diploma for School Business Leaders programme you will not be eligible to transfer to this bursary funded programme.

You will need the support of a school in order to carry out work-based study. It is important that the SLT are willing to share information with you in order to help your studies. Please contact the DfE if you need to discuss your eligibility for the SBP programmes.

They recommend that you complete the Level 4 Diploma in School Business Management programme prior to undertaking the Level 5 programme, although they do welcome applications from those who would like to proceed directly to the Level 5. For those who have not completed the Level 4 Diploma, you will be asked to provide further information about your professional and academic background as part of the application process.
