Governor Workshops 1 March 2021

Introduction to being a governor
Susy Stone, former Head of Akiva School, Vice Chair of Governors at Yavneh College and PaJeS Board member
This session was aimed at governors of maintained VA schools including academies who are relatively new to their position - though anyone who would like a ‘refresher’ was very welcome. Susy outlined the main roles and responsibilities in being a governor and she looked at distinguishing between the governing body’s strategic role and the operational role of the Head and SLT

Staff wellbeing in and out of school
Marc Shoffren, Headteacher of Alma Primary
The term wellbeing is often used, but what makes a difference to wellbeing and how can governors work with SLT to ensure that good support is given to the mental health and wellbeing of all staff in schools? Marc started by looking at some of the key considerations that underpin staff wellbeing and included an opportunity for governors to share successful strategies from their own schools.
