PaJeS held its first event of the school year for governors at the end of last week and had a record turnout of 57 governors in attendance. The evening began with a talk from Chris Jones, Director of Corporate Strategy at Ofsted who spoke about Ofsted’s new framework. There was also a unique opportunity to ask him questions. It is not often that schools get to spend time with a member of Ofsted in an informal atmosphere so it was extremely interesting to get a little insight into how this important educational organisation runs.
The governors then had the choice of attending 3 workshops that were running. These were:
1) Your PTA – valued support or loose cannon? presented by Suzi Stone former head of Akiva School and Lisa Bayfield outgoing PTA Chair;
2) It’s Time to Focus on Your Staff – presented by Zoe Sinclair, Employees Matter, and Jillian Dunstan former head of Mathilda Marks-Kennedy Primary School
3) Raising Standards – presented by Rabbi David Meyer, Executive Director of PaJeS.
All workshops were very well received and more information can be found on here.
Feedback from the event was very positive with one attendee commenting that, Chris Jones gave, “A good introduction and overview of the new framework” and that the evening was an, “excellent opportunity that offered really useful insights.” Another attendee said “Each course/lecture contained much thought provoking content and I came away with ideas and advice that can be implemented into our Governing body or SLT structure”
PaJeS next governor event will be held in March 2020. Please email [email protected] for further details.
