    Translation Bee

Following demand from Spelling Bee veterans and their teachers for a project offering direct progression from the Year 7 Spelling Bee competition we are delighted to now offer the Translation Bee for students (non-native speakers of the languages they’re
entering) in years 8 and 9.
Building on the requirements of the new KS3 curriculum, with its emphasis on translation and grammatical manipulation etc, the aim of the Translation Bee is for students to practise and improve a range of skills vital to preparation for starting a GCSE course: vocabulary, pronunciation, memory, verb conjugation, tenses, sentence formation.

Year 7 Modern Hebrew Spelling Bee National Final

    Genizah Collection visit: 11am – 1pm
    Spelling Bee Final: 2pm – 4pm

On 4th July we have teamed up with the AMES department and are offering the added option for participating schools of bringing several older students with you. They will have the chance to  hear from the Hebrew department at the University and the great opportunity (together with the Year 7s) to see the famous Cambridge Genizah collection (click here for more info). The chance to hear from the Hebrew department may be of particular interest to Year 10 and 12 students considering studying at Cambridge.

Please let us know if you are interested in taking up this opportunity so that we have an idea of numbers.  For those of you wishing to do so, the Genizah session will take place from 11am – 1pm, followed by a lunch break. We expect that the Spelling Bee Final will run from 2pm – 4pm.
